God Will Fight For You

Psalm 35:1-18
Persecution is a hard thing. It is even harder when the persecution comes from within our own circle. Sometimes we are tempted to fight back and to teach those “traitors” a lesson. Ideally, most try to talk the problems through. Nevertheless, what happens when there is no openness to dialogue or those who unfairly attack us put us in impossible situations?
This was David’s condition. King Saul, his former friend and mentor, had mobilized his men to attack and kill David. David pleaded for God’s protection and righteousness. He asked God to fight on his behalf. David knew that God was just. He knew that God would protect the weak from those who bullied and robbed them. David had assurance of God’s deliverance, and he boldly sought it. At the end, God responded and delivered David from the hand of Saul.
